Prof. JI Weizhi, an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the faculty and students from the Institute of Primate Translational Medicine  and Yunnan University joined in the event.

Prof. Cahir O'Kane made a lecture entitled "Modeling of a Continuous Dynamic Axonal Network by Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia Proteins". He introduced the molecular mechanisms involved in morphogenesis in detail and functional regulation of neuronal axon endoplasmic reticulum, as well as the role of these molecular mechanisms in the pathogenesis of human Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia. At the meeting, the teachers and students exchanged and interacted with Prof. O'Kane on the issues in which they were interested.

After the meeting, Prof. Cahir O'Kane visited the Institute of Primate Translational Medicine and had a discussion with academician JI Weizhi and PI of the Institute on the potential cooperation focus.

He has developed the method of enhancer trapping which is still widely used in fruit flies and led the Virtual Fly Brain Project, an online platform that integrates multi-latitude data such as Drosophila brain anatomy, gene expression and genetic phenotype. And he has published nearly 90 papers in the world's high-level journals of Science, Nat Neurosci, Nat Rev Neurosci, Nat Commun, etc.
